TOOTH BONDING
If you are unhappy with the appearance of your smile, we offer many cosmetic dentistry treatments to help you attain a beautiful smile. With some treatments being costly and time consuming, tooth bonding is our most affordable and effective solution to many dental concerns. Not many people consider tooth bonding to be a good treatment for cosmetic issues, but the truth is it is a quick and simple process that can correct the issues you have with your smile. Bonding can be used to treat:
- Chipped teeth
- Cracked teeth
- Discolored teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Gaps in between teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Teeth that are too small
Tooth bonding is an alternative to porcelain veneers except it is much more affordable. Veneers are permanent ultra-thin shells that are secured to the front of your tooth hiding almost any imperfection. They are made in a dental lab from impressions of your teeth. They are considered a permanent restoration since the tooth structure must be reduced to create room for them.
Bonding, however, is not considered as permanent as veneers but still provides patients with a way to restore the aesthetics of their smile and treat minor cosmetic dental concerns. Dr. David Weinstock and Dr. Jonathan Waasdorp use the most modern dental materials and his natural artistic abilities to provide natural results that blend seamlessly with your beautiful and healthy smile.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The tooth bonding procedure can be completed in a single visit to our Philadelphia dentist office since it is a fairly easy treatment to perform when compared to other dental restorations. It should only take about thirty to forty minutes to complete. You will be able to enjoy instant results in just a single visit with almost no downtime and anesthesia is not even needed.
Our doctors will make sure the shade of your bonding material will blend in with the rest of your smile. He will color match the enamel-like material to your natural teeth by using an accurate shade guide.
First, Dr. Weinstock or Dr. Waasdorp will prepare the tooth for the procedure by lightly etching the surface and then he will apply a liquid that will help the bonding material adhere to the tooth. Once the liquid sets, a plastic resin is applied and sculpted into the desired shape by the dentist. Once set, the resin is trimmed, smoothed and polished for a natural appearance.
Tooth bonding can improve the appearance of a tooth significantly. However, since the plastic resin used is not as strong as your natural tooth enamel or veneers, it is more likely to stain, chip or break. Because of this, you should take extra steps to protect those teeth. Bonding typically lasts three to five years before need of repair.
